Key System Transit Company ferry plans, 1926-1934.

Marine engineering drawings of various sizes pertaining to the Peralta (built 1927), Yerba Buena (built 1927), Hayward (built 1923) and San Leandro (built 1923) steam ferries. Key System Transit Company was the owner of the Hayward and the San Leandro, and operator for all four ferries. The plans were created by three different companies. Included are 20 plans created by Moore Dry Dock Shipbuilding for hull number 170 the Peralta, and hull 171 the Yerba Buena. They include Seats and Typical Joiner Work, Sliding Doors, Llife Preserver Arrangement, Offsets from Mold Loft, Inclining Experiment Data, Rudder, Forward Section, Capacity Plan, Framing Plan, Framing Plan Shell, Shell Expansion and Riveting Schedule, Arrangement of Zinc Plates on Stern Frame and Rudder, Ventilator Cowls for Engine and Boiler Vents, Docking Plan, Transverse Bulkhead Frame numbers 12 and 29, Bulkhead and Tunnel Riveting Schedules, W.T. Bulkheads, and Long and Wing Bulkhead Swash Plates. There are 4 plans created by Key System Transit Company for Peralta and Yerba Buena. They include Additional Life Perserver Racks for the main deck, Install Two Ace Dish Washers in Kitchen, Diagram of Oil and Water Tanks, and Additions to Feed and Filter Tank for Steamers. In addition, there are 3 plans created by Key Terminal Railway Ltd. They include Steam Table, Sinks and Drain Board for Hayward and San Leandro, Seat Contour for Yerba Buena, and Smoke Stack for San Leandro.

Organizational History In 1902, after having consolidated East Bay streetcar lines for almost a decade, Francis Marion "Borax" Smith formed the San Francisco, Oakland & San Jose Railway.
